Dessert Made with Tea

Table of Contents

Tonight’s dessert was another experiemental kitchen concoction….and it turned out delicious! I had decided earlier in the day that I needed to get rid of some of the pears that had been in our fruit bin for far too long so they were gonna be on the menu. I didn’t know what I was going to do with them. Baked pears or pear crisp were the most obvious option, but I wanted something a little more exciting. I call this one Vanilla Mint Pears.

So, I took a look at the spice cabinet and decided to go with mint as a main flavor. Vanilla stevia seemed to be a better fit than the plain liquid stevia and the lemon juice was just for a little bit of a zing! I think the most interesting component of this dessert, however, was the orange pekoe tea that I cooked the pears in. I think it could be really good with some other types of tea as well, maybe a chai of some sort or a ginger tea next time.

In any event, this experiment turned out to be a winner and I will definitely be making it again soon.
